Chapter 6: Prognosticating With Pash

“That was beautiful,” Pash said at last. And then, turning her gaze to me, “What did you mean when you asked me whether I wanted it now?”

I was silent for a good few moments. “What did you think I meant?” I responded, finally.

“Well, I wasn’t sure what you meant, or whether you meant anything. But I was reminded of something.”

“Which was?”

Pash sat upright, leaning against the wall, and reprised her wry but accepting smile.

“Which was, well, there has been the odd guy, let us say, that I have known, who would say that at certain, times when he was, umm,” her eyes rolled upwards and her smile widened a little, “distracted. Distracted by me, let us say.” She looked back at me: “I wonder whether you know what I am talking about.”

“I think we all know,” Bob said.

“I think I do know,” I said. “It is possible that is what I was getting at.”

“And so why would you say that to me just then?”
